Cruise Lines use written warnings as a disciplinary measure for crew members who violate company rules or policies.

Here's some of the reasons why they issue them:
What Happens After a Written Warning:
  • Increased Scrutiny: The crew member's performance will be closely monitored.
  • Potential for Further Discipline: Repeated offenses can lead to more severe consequences, such as suspension or termination of employment.
  • Impact on Career: A written warning can negatively impact the crew member's career prospects within the cruise line and cruise industry.
Common Reasons for Written Warnings:
  • Rule Violations:
    • Violating the company's dress code
    • Being late for work or missing shifts
    • Disobeying orders from supervisors
    • Possessing or consuming prohibited substances
    • Engaging in inappropriate behavior with passengers (normally instant dismissal)
  • Performance Issues:
    • Inconsistent or substandard work quality
    • Inability to meet performance expectations
    • Poor customer service skills
  • Safety Violations:
    • Not following safety procedures
    • Negligence that could endanger themselves or others
Important Note: The specific policies and procedures regarding written warnings can vary between different cruise lines.

What have you seen or experienced? did it differ from the above? what would you add this this as a procedure, reason? do you feel that you were issued a warning/dismissed for a different reason? do you think that it was personal against you?

Please leave us your thoughts, we want to hear from you.
