Company: Princess Cruise Lines (Holland America Group)
Position: Stage Crew, started as a Production Assistant (Entertainment Dept. / Production).
Salary: US$ 1600 (US$ 1100 for Assistant).
Cons: Salary is way too low for the position and responsibilities, specially considering that as a Stage Crew you're not working exclusively in the main theater and you have to help in many venues and events around the ship for such a low wage. Other companies are offering at least 1000 dollars extra for the same position with less work schedule.
After you're promoted to Stage Crew the next step is to become an Assistant Manager (from US$ 2200 to US$ 3000 depending on your role, 1/2 stripe officer), which is basically takes 4 to 5 years in the company if you're really good, but with such a bad salary I don't think it's worth the wait.
Alcohol policy is really strict nowadays.
Pros: Princess makes up for that for all the benefits: Cheap internet, Pax area privileges (pax buffet, pax gym and open deck bars) and relatively good crew life with great itineraries, but everything depends on your current ship. You have a lot of space to learn and improve, specially in the Production department (but as I said before it's really hard to get promoted and the salary is so bad that it's not worth it).
Management: Ship management is the same as all other companies (all the same mafia stuff, favoring your own nationality, etc.), but for the Entertainment it's either hit or miss. You'll either have a great time or a really bad time depending on the Hotel and Entertainment Directors.
Final considerations: If you're looking to start in the Production Dept. it's a great way to do so, but if you're already work in the area I would really recommend to apply for different companies with much better salaries.
