When you work o a ship, you don't just work in one position. You may have to help in other departments, and you will always have additional safety duties. Depending on where you are from and what position you hold, you might pick up "side hustles" like being a crew barber or helping stateroom stewards clean their rooms to make extra cash. Technically, this is not allowed as it interferes with your rest hours but it is very common. If you want feedback about your results, ask an admin.
